History
The History of the Viking Cup
Founded in the late 1980s as a friendly competition between Singapore and Bangkok, the Viking Cup has grown into a prestigious tournament representing over six countries and nine clubs, all united under the banner of Football, Fun, and Friendship. By 1990, Jakarta joined the ranks, and in 1992, Hong Kong became part of the competition. With 34 years of rich history, the Viking Cup continues to bring together football enthusiasts from across Asia, fostering camaraderie on and off the pitch.
Viking Cup 2025: Jakarta Hosts for the 5th time
The Viking Cup returns to Jakarta for its 33rd edition, marking the city’s fifth time as host and reaffirming its special place in the tournament’s legacy. Since joining the Viking Cup in 1990, Jakarta has been a key part of its storied history, including the memorable 1991 victory at Bung Karno Stadium. Set for April 2025, this year’s tournament will celebrate decades of Football, Fun, and Friendship, bringing players and spectators together for yet another unforgettable chapter in Viking Cup tradition.
